Realizing the Importance of the “I” in TEAM Part 3

by Megan Bullard on November 25, 2009

Assessments reveal important facts about the team’s individuals. These results can then be combined to create a team assessment. Team assessments will reveal a team’s strengths and weaknesses based on the individuals within that team and how those members work together. These combined results will allow managers to successfully build and develop their teams in areas that are especially important to the functionality of the organization. These results also help managers determine which team members would fit best in certain roles, or if someone from outside the team should be included to ensure success. For instance, if a team lacks the ability to pay close attention to detail, it might be appropriate for that team to bring in someone from another department to edit its work.

This is Part 3 in our team building series. Part 1 and Part 2 covered the initial steps required to create an effective team. Read Part 4 for the conclusion.
